The website for the SIUE Art and Design
Department was my first contract project and major web re-design
endeavor. I suppose you could say this is where my career
as a web designer took flight. After graduating from SIUE
with degrees in Art Studio and Art History, I began getting
my feet wet in web design with the help of my brother, Joe
Schicker, a web designer/developer both then and now. He
taught me all the basics, and was a tremendous help in the
realization of this project. Also much gratitude goes out
to Ivy Cooper, Ph.D., who was then Chair of the Art and Design
Department, and Steve Brown, Professor of Photography and
Digital Arts, who entrusted me with the project.
Since the
department needed a major restructuring and re-design of
its site, I spent time creating a detailed site architecture
map, attending a faculty meeting to go over the initial
stages of the project, and collaborating with professors
on their individual faculty, studio, and gallery pages. The
Art and Design Department site to this day bears my original
design and architecture created over four years ago. |
